Yesterday, whilst having coffee with dad and the kids by Sydney Harbour, five days since I drove away from my home, it finally dawned on me: This is life now. I think this could be OK.
It’s no wonder it took five days. I just drove Brisbane to Sydney solo with two kids. I’m crazy, but there wasn’t space for another human in the car and someone needed to pack the house up. It worked.
There were hectic moments and there were good moments. I only photographed the good ones. I don’t need to remember the shower tantrums or nearly losing children while I repacked the car.
Things that worked when road tripping with kids: water bottles on strings tied to their seats; kiddie spy mirrors; snacks packed in different shaped containers; LOADS of snacks; extended breaks and novel toys wrapped in paper; audiobooks and actions songs “get ready, to wiggle..!”
Justin flew down from Brisbane last night and we’re now in Goulborn en route to Melbourne. It’s FREEZING. This is going to be some adjustment.
